The mountain bike world elite meets for the World Championship title showdown on the notorious trails around Graz. As at the world championships only elite riders within their national teams are allowed to start, every biker elder than 30 years may start at the UEC Masters European Championships, which will be on the same track over 105km and 3.768hm. Moreover there is an "Open Class" for riders which are neither allowed to start at the World Championships, nor at the Masters European Championships. Participants at the TREK Mountain Bike Challenge get an impression of World Championships racing on the CLASSIC track (67km) and SMALL (35km). 200 Mountain Bikers from 35 nations will be expected at the World Championships! An attractive programme will assure action around the World Championships from Friday to Sunday. The fully signed race track will be ready from the 15^th of August! Especially one week before the World Championships numerous Mountain Bike Professionals can be watched while training on the track. The first World Championship participants already inspected the race track in May and posted their appreciation concerning the track requirements for the World Championships.

Even for local riders the World Championship Marathon offers an attractive leisure time facility as permanent track. After long-lasting negotiations and the initialisation of a mutual trust with land owners, a big part of the World Championship track could be contractually secured and freed for public use. Many track sections, which are frequently runned are influenced by local riders. From the beginning of July 2009, the "World Championship Marathon" will be signed permanently and included in the cost-free bikeCULTure region map.
